Thanksgiving Project 2014

Hello everyone!

We greet you with well wishes and lots of love.

First and foremost, I would love to thank everyone who participated in the Thanksgiving Project last year! It was a huge success and our families became yours with your generosity. Over 100 people have meals because of YOU. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I would like to share a story about one of our families; we usually keep the stories private, but this must be shared with you all.

Last year we drove up to Lancaster, to visit our last family. She was a wonderful mother of two with terminal cancer. As soon as we walked in the door, we noticed how much love and hope exuded from her family who had traveled from Guadalajara, Mexico, to take care of her in her illness. She expressed her gratitude and greeted us warmly. Though her body was fragile, her hugs were strong. We spent some time with her, talking about life, her kids, and her hopes. Needless to say, we left the home in tears and with a, "we will call you to check up!" We were positive that she would power through.

Marlene died a week later. She has forever been in my thoughts and prayers. The little moment we shared with her and her smile is what I will forever cherish. We want to dedicate this year to Marlene Rios. We know you're our angel from above and you're watching over us. Thank you for being brave and we hope to always have that strength to live and keep fighting on.

If there is a family you know that is going through a tough time and we can give them a day of relief for Thanksgiving, Please let us know. We will start collecting donations the week before Thanksgiving. You can contact one of the M.A.D LA members to set up a pick up or delivery time. Below you will find a list of items we will be needing and our contact information. This year we will be giving our fortunate families their baskets on Sunday Nov 23, if you have free time, come and join us giving these loving families a gift of joy. Everyone is welcome to join us!
